MEC Celebrates New HQ OpeningKlatsches Hold To celebrate
the opening of its new main offices on Klatsches Hold Station, MEC sponsored a series of
races from KH to Hyperial and back on 108.1.26. The race had three different entrant
categories based on pilot level, and had three ways to score order of completion,
successful docking, and number of flux kills en-route. The entrant classes were: Class 1
(level 34+); Class 2 (levels 15 33); and Class 3 (levels 0 14). Scoring
included points for docking order (50, 40, 30, 20, 10 1st through 5th
respectively); 5 points for successful dock at Hyperial, and another 10 points for
successful final dock at KH; and 3 points per flux killed during the race.
"No one died or missed the
time limit," announced the beaming MEC President, Istanbul. "The only
glitch per se, was a young pilot, of level 3, who was taking a bit too long on the way
back, so we had WITTMANN tell him to get his butt back to station if he wanted a prize.
Luckily there were no disputes over the scoring, though there was one close call in
points. RedDwarf had 39 points for class 1's 3rd place, while Sunfish hadn't killed any
flux and made second place with exactly 40 points."
The prizes were a combination of
Credits and Artifacts, with the following prizes having been handed out:
Class 1 First Place Pilot Injustice. Prize of 5 million credits and an AB4. Second Place Pilot Sunfish. Prize of 3 million credits and a PCM-WE Set (PCM-WE1, PCM-WE2, PCM-WE3) Third Place - Pilot RedDwarf. Prize of 1.5 million credits and a PCM EE Set (PCM EE1, PCM-EE2, PCM-EE3) Class 2 First Place Pilot Scourge. Prize of 5 million credits and a PCM-AE1 Class 3 First Place Pilot Cujon. Prize of 5 million credits and a PCM-ESB. Second Place Pilot Xylithius. Prize of 3 million credits and 2 PCE-5s. When asked why MEC had elected to move its main office to Klatsches Hold, Istanbul said that he felt KH, like the other artifact stations in unregulated sectors, was underutilized and presented an excellent value to tenants. "Our suite on KH, Corridor 7 is exactly what we were looking for at a price we could not pass up. Plus KH is fairly close to some of our work centers and warehouses, so it's a convenient point for public meetings and MEC-run events." MEC, whose goal is to rediscover lost technologies and history, maintain current infrastructures, and propel the advance of technology, has vowed to continue its sponsorship of races and other similar pilot-morale-boosting events.
