TRI Declares Old Targeting Gear Obsolete
Posted by: Ambrosius on Thursday, September 02, 2010 - 01:49 PM EST

Universal News 110.9.1.17:10
by Demosthenes

Solrain Wake (TRI-FP) - In a move considered by most pilots to be long overdue, TRI Corporation last month finally eliminated production of the Bullseye and VTC I targeting devices. Completely outclassed by OPL's Duelist targeting computer, which was released in 103.3, these older targeting devices dating from the early days of space travel had been underutilized for most of a decade.

The last straw for the obsolescent equipment came about when a rare inter-factional agreement in 110.8 reduced the rank requirements for use of the Duelist to the point that raw recruits are now authorized to use it. It is not clear when residual stocks will be completely eliminated from public stations. However, the new MODx recycler presently under construction at Quantar Core could be seen by pilots as a likely means to reclaim the valuable RAM and CPUs contained in the older gear.

Racers Haul Heavy Loads in Second Aristio Cup Race

Universal News 101.08.12.13:55
by Thane Carios

TRI-HQ (TRI-FP) - The second race in the Artisto Cup series, The Samsung Universal 420, was held on 110.08.08 at 15:00 Ekoos Time. For this event, the racers started at Hyperial Station with an empty hold and no mission. Pilots then proceed to Main Gate where they docked at the Ore Depot to retrieve an ore delivery mission to Quantar Depot. Docking in Quantar Depot was the finish line.

There was a bit of conflict after the race when one of the contestants was irate over being jostled and bumped in the loading tube of the Main Gate Ore Depot, but a wisened-old TRI veteran was overheard telling him, "No, no, he didn't slam you, he didn't bump you, he didn't nudge you . . . he *rubbed* you. And rubbin, son, is racin'."

Race Organizer, CaptainCow said, "Moooo!" . . . which means: "This was a hotly contested race - there was much more jostling for ore in the depot than the last go round 4 years ago and it appeared to have a material effect on the outcome of the race. Another issue looming over race 2 was the Ta'hir's resolve to deny access to Quantar Depot for Military Tagged pilots from other factions. Due to war status it was felt the security risk was too high. This resulted in a record number of DNFs for pilots that never podded during an event. Therefore I'd like to remind pilots to plan ahead for the next few races and ensure they are Civilian Tagged by race day or else they will not even be able to start the race. With the next event in Solrain space, hopefully we will see more than a token turn out for the home faction that we've seen the last couple races!"

New Explosion at Beleaguered Duelist CP
Posted by: Ambrosius on Wednesday, August 11, 2010 - 02:16 PM EST

Universal News 110.8.10.12:57
by Alexa A'vros

Quantar Core (TRI-FP) - Two days ago and for the second time in nearly as many weeks, the Duelist Custom Producer in Omni IV was rocked by internal explosions. None of the maintenance staff present at the facility were injured during the crippling incident but hundreds of droids and servos were either damaged or destroyed, temporarily disabling the facility.

Constructed by a Quantar faction mission in 103.12.24, this nearly seven-year-old structure has been attacked and damaged often by Sentient Conflux during its lifetime. Despite reports of a Sentient Conflux presence in Octavian space during the hours prior to the attack, no Conflux attack on the CP has been officially suspected in either of the recent incidents.

Explosion Attributed to Mechanical Failure

Universal News 110.08.03
by Demosthenes

Quantar Core (TRI-FP) - OPL management today reiterated their position that the explosion several days ago aboard the Duelist CP in Omni IV sector was the result of mechanical failure. Logs and automated records were presented for review by Quantar authorities, puporting to remove any suspicion of external attack on the facility.

The Duelist CP is once again in normal operation. External repairs were conducted immediately after the incident with the assistance of several on-duty pilots, including Baius, RedDwarf, and CaptainCow, while Solrain pilot usalman conducted combat patrol against Conflux forces in the sector.

Universal News 110.7.30.15:7.29
by Thane Carios

TRI-HQ (TRI-FP) - The latest Aristio Cup races kicked off on 110.7.25 with the first in what will be a series of at least five parts, with the initial race being the "Amananth 444" - a three-lap course through The Gyre, Aman Hook, Last Parsec, Sea of Shadows and The Split - starting and finishing in Aman Station. Nine pilots participated in the Heavy-Miner-Class event, and eight in the Transport-Class event. This was a straight-out "speed" race where the winner was the first to finish the course and dock, but an additional 20 race point could be earned by going through the Last Parsec beacon.

"We are so pleased that CaptainCow has decided to run another Aristio Cup series!" said Echo Tetsab, Director of TRI-RMD. "And we also want to thank the Series Sponsor, Aristio Conglomerated. Hopefully we'll see more and more actual race participants as the series progresses."

TRI-HQ (TRI-FP) - TRI pilots reported for duty in droves around 17:00 Ekoos Time on 110.7.16 in response to "Regan's Challenge" - an attempt by pilot Regan to turn around the recent epidemic of pilot apathy and to help ensure TRI space remains safe and vital. Flight deck personnel and servos at all stations were frantically busy, taking ship after ship out of mothballs and prepping them for launch into space - many for the first time in years.

OCTAVIUS CORE - On 108.11.16, Legate Triarius released the following statement:

"Loyal citizens of the Empire, the time has come to once again spread our glorious influence throughout all of the known systems.

"I have ordered the withdrawal of all our diplomats from all factions. We will now negotiate with our guns and our missiles. The weak will die, the strong will destroy them...and WE ARE THE STRONGER!

"Blow them from the stars, take what is rightfully ours, and when our glorious banner flies from the capitals of the other mongrel factions we will use their bones to build temples to our greatness!

"CONTEGO OCTAVIUS!"

Calatorius Calls for TRI/Factional Scientists Task Force

Universal News 108.10.19
by Darkspace Newswire

Octavius Core Station - In response to repeated questions from reporters, Dr. Calatorius elaborated on his earlier announcement about the crash of the CLAWS array and the mysterious deep-space carier wave that appeared to deliver a quantum virus, saying "the CLAWS array is an early warning system...but it also served other more minor, space science functions to include the study of the nature of our space since the Great Collapse. These functions were used by the various science academies. I have been informed that recently there were several odd readings that were picked up by the array."

CLAWS System Taken Down by Deep Space Virus
Posted by: Ambrosius on Monday, October 20, 2008 - 09:48 AM EST
alt1
Universal News 108.10.18
from the Darkspace Newswire

Octavius Core Station - Over the past weekend, TRI released news that the CLAWS array had gone down. Conflux Studies expert, Dr. Calatorius commented: "Based upon my preliminary analysis, it would seem the system has been taken offline by a quantum computer virus that has not only brought down the array, but also locked the system down."

"We are investigating where the virus may have originated -- we detected a carrier wave remnant coming from deep space. What is odd about this carrier wave is that it appears to not originate from any of our known sectors, nor does it originate from conflux space, which is most disconcerting.

Pilot reactions ran from confusion to concern to elation that a big fight may be afoot.

Octavian Faction Mission Pushed to Completion by Muti-Factional Consortium

Universal News 108.9.15.11:04.00
from the Darkspace Newswire

Octavius Core Station - After a little more than a week, the Octavian-sponsored mission to increase the production output of its factory in Great Pillars Station was completed shortly before 5am Ekoos Time on 109.9.14. The final delivery was fittingly made by pilot InterOrka of the squad STMG, since it was InterOrka who coordinated much of the effort.

Ironically, the initial call for the mission came from a Quantar pilot, Bayonette, the founder of the mutifactional TRI Privateers organization. Bayonette and the TRI Privateers continued to support and endorse the mission even after Octavian Officials said the new mission would “. . . facilitate the Empire's new drive to increase Imperial dominance throughout TRI space.”

Quantar Core (TRI-FP) - The Quantar High Defender of the Faith, Rohi bin Hamalzahd, has released the following statement:

"In order to more efficiently serve Quantar, I have relocated the Headquarters Office of the High Defender of the Faith from Quantar Core to a more secure and secret location. This move will allow this Office to more properly focus on the Defense of Quantar and our Holy Faith and avoid the day to day politics of government -- with which this Office has no mandate."

by Alexa A'vros

Outpost (TRI-FP) - In early morning raids, several members of Dr Calatorius' Conflux Studies team were arrested and taken away by Octavian military police, apparently on the authority of Legate Lucanus.

"We have been monitoring key people in the Conflux Studies organization for many weeks," stated Lucanus. "Dr Calatorius was unaware of our investigation, as it was initially a routine sweep through government personnel. The doctor himself is in no way suspected of wrongdoing, and was unaware of the information leaks - in fact, the military team would have also missed them, had it not been for a very subtle mistake.

by Rafel Solamis

Hyperial (TRI-FP) - Following the completion of the latest TRI mission, the Hyperial government has released a large quantity of Chemicals and Synthetics to Klatsches Hold station, in accordance with the agreement that triggered the mission.

"I offer my personal thanks to all the pilots who worked this deal," stated President Kelvin Rauder, for Hyperial. "The delivered materials were much needed for ongoing construction and humanitarian projects. I have authorized delivery to Klatsches Hold, to prevent local production lines from eating away at the stockpiles. We look forward to our continued good relations and teamwork with both TRI and its pilots."

Market analysis confirms the presence of over 5,000 units each of Chemicals and Synthetics at Klatsches Hold.

New Faction Missions Initiated

Universal News 107.3.9.13.20
By Darkspace Dispatch Newswire

DEEP SPACE (DsD HQ) – After some initial factional bickering in the aftermath of the recent Conflux attack on Quantar that destroyed the Glaive and RB-4 production facilities, a flurry of new faction missions were announced by Solrain, Octavius and Amananth.

Solrain has implemented a mission to rebuild the Sabre nuclear missile factory. The Sabre factory was destroyed by Conflux attacks several months ago and was never rebuilt. With Quantar’s blatant refusal to rush rebuilding of the Glaive production facility and the Octavian obsession with rebuilding an Injustice production facility, it was left to Solrain to get production of a nuclear missile to defend against Conflux attacks back online.

No Plans to Rebuild Glaive CP
Posted by: Ambrosius on Tuesday, February 27, 2007 - 10:22 PM EST

Universal News 107.2.27.18.6
by Alexa A'vros

Quantar Core (TRI-FP) - The Fa'hil Memta has issued the following statement regarding the Glaive custom producer destroyed on 107.02.24 in a massive Conflux attack. The statement was issued shortly after what one source called a stormy, closed-door session between the Tahirs and High Defender of the Faith, Rohi bin Hamalzahd:

"After careful review of the defensive posture of Quantar, the Fa'hil Memta has decided that the Glaive custom producer (CP) recently destroyed by the Conflux menace will not be repaired at this time. We call upon our neighbors to repair their own Fission Device CPs that have long been neglected and continue to remain dormant. Quantar can no longer afford to support the entire galaxy's needs for fissile warhead weapons.
