TRI-HQ (TRI-FP) - Although not known for involving themselves in economic affairs, TRI's Recreation and Morale department has laid forth a plan to address recent severe economic shortages.
"While TRI may not be as large or important as it once was," remarked Director Echo Tetsab, "everyone who is left at TRI still works for the common good of the average pilot. It is essential that stocks of commodities are brought up to reasonable levels, and we here at RMD are willing to do our part.
"Over the years, RMD has handed out many ribbons and medals. Now, individually, these medals consume very little in the way of metals, but collectively, they amount to a significant stack of Aluminum, Copper, Gold, Silver, Titanium, Conflux Biomass and Plutonium, as well as other stuff. Our proposition is that not only do we stop issuing medals until such time as resource stocks return to acceptable levels, but also that we start reclaiming these awards, and smelting them down into their base materials.
"Initially, the program will be voluntary, with a small credit sum being issued to anyone willing to trade their medals to help the economy. However, should the program fail to attract sufficient pilots, we will be forced to make it mandatory. The base materials retrieved from the program will then be auctioned off to the highest bidder to pay for the program costs.
"Internal estimates show that the timeline to recover stocks to reasonable and acceptable levels would be less than one month, with the program starting immediately. We have already identified key targets for the program, and will be contacting them shortly to ensure they volunteer."
